Islamabad: A united front of civil society members, animal welfare activists, and concerned citizens gathered at the National Press Club on Saturday, urging authorities to adopt humane and science-backed solutions for managing the city’s stray dog population.
The peaceful protest and press conference highlighted the urgent need to replace inhumane culling practices with the globally recognized Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate, Return (TNVR) method. This approach involves capturing stray dogs, vaccinating them against rabies, neutering to control reproduction, and returning them to their areas — reducing the risk of rabies and ensuring long-term population management.
Participants emphasized that TNVR is not just effective, but ethical — a public health solution that respects animal rights and promotes community safety.
